Today was the first day of VBS!!! We began walking down to the HCC when about 30 kids starting up toward us. We greeted them, "Mulishawnee," and up to the guesthouse we went, hand in hand. They were all so beautiful and had such sweet voices as they began singing songs like, "Jesus Loves Me, Alleluia!"
The orphans knew the Lord's Prayer perfectly! They have wonderful teachers!
Some of the children carried their siblings on their backs.
They sat so nicely as we performed a puppet show for them about the book of Esther, who too was an orphan! They also enjoyed coloring pictures of Esther and the other characters in the book!
We broke into small groups, and I had the "older girls." They included: Lilian, Mary, Deborah, Chewe, Patience, Mailes, Yvonne, Jacqueline, Merit (my interpreter) and Maesaela (in picture below). I absolutely loved all of them, not surprising since I am such a softy for teenage girls!
As each child said goodbye for the day, they all wanted lots of handshakes and hugs!
We actually ended up with approximately 55 kids at VBS today! What a blast! I love all of their bright beautiful smiles and their sincere, loving eyes! What a joy it is to be here with so many sweet babies! I feel like I am getting a little taste of Heaven!
